Related Midwest Opens Pre-Leasing for OneEleven in Chicago’s Loop

60-story luxury apartment tower offers ultimate five-star lifestyle on Chicago’s riverfront

(CHICAGO) April 9, 2014 – Related Midwest today announced the start of pre-leasing for OneEleven, a 60-story ultra-luxury apartment tower at 111 West Wacker Drive that is poised to bring an unprecedented level of rental living to Chicago’s Loop when it opens this summer. Representing Related’s second luxury apartment offering in Chicago, following the successful debut of 500 Lake Shore Drive last year, OneEleven will feature 504 apartments that offer the developer’s signature residential experience through a combination of five-star service, exclusive lifestyle amenities and sophisticated, modern design. Initial occupancy is slated for July.

Located at Wacker Drive and Clark Street, OneEleven is the culmination of Related’s transformation of one of Chicago’s most high-profile sites along an iconic stretch of the Chicago River. Related acquired the site at 111 West Wacker in 2011 and partnered with noted firm Handel Architects, known for its work with the Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton hotels, to create a design for a glass-sheathed building that incorporated the partially constructed base of a tower started on the site by its previous developer.

“OneEleven is a symbol of Chicago’s renaissance,” said Gary Handel, president of Handel Architects. “At this pivotal site, we strove to create a building that will take its rightful place among the exceptional buildings that line the Chicago River.”

“In order to integrate the existing base into the new tower, we came up with the idea of drawing your eye skyward, creating a sinuous ribbon that winds up and around the building, linking base to tower, referencing adjacent building heights and datums, and connecting streetscape to sky,” continued Handel.

Adding to the design cache of the building is Kara Mann Design (KMD), which created stunning amenity spaces and common areas including a soaring glass, stone and wood lobby with a signature art installation.

The celebrated interior designer is also creating six decorated models that will open with the building’s initial occupancy and showcase the high level of finish in individual residences, which will feature wide-plank flooring throughout living areas and Snaidero cabinetry, polished quartz countertops and white marble mosaic tile backplashes in kitchens. Residences will also feature 9- to 10-foot ceilings, spacious customized closets, stainless steel appliances and full-size washer and dryer.

The first new residential offering along the Chicago River in six years, OneEleven offers a prime rental address in the Loop, one of the country’s fastest-growing and in-demand downtown districts. Located at the gateway to the vibrant River North neighborhoods, the building gives professionals an easy walk-to-work lifestyle and is also just steps from mass transit options for access to the entire city.
