Mike Simon is Vice President of Infrastructure at Related Midwest. In this role, he leads the strategic planning and execution of critical infrastructure systems across Related’s portfolio of mixed-use, mixed-income, affordable and luxury developments. Simon’s oversight includes flagship projects such as The 78, a 62-acre downtown development and one of the largest real estate projects in Chicago, and 8080 S. DuSable Lake Shore Drive, a 400-acre master plan in South Chicago that will house the Illinois Quantum & Microelectronics Park (IQMP), anchored by what will be one of the largest quantum computing facilities in the world.
Prior to joining Related in 2025, Simon was a vice president at Jules Madison Inc., where he managed new business opportunities and consulted on utility design and construction coordination. During a three-decade career with the City of Chicago, Simon spent nine years managing special events and 20 years with the Chicago Department of Transportation, four years as deputy commissioner, where he coordinated with elected officials and city/state agencies to prevent and resolve project conflicts. He streamlined initiatives through inter-agency restoration coordination, forging partnerships with city departments, utilities and developers to optimize timelines and minimize bureaucratic delays.
Simon serves as vice chair of the Greater Chicago Damage Prevention Council and is a volunteer board member of Chicago Gateway Green. He is a graduate of Western Illinois University where he earned both a Bachelor of Arts in business and a Master of Science in recreation, park and tourism administration.
