Max Allen is a Vice President at Related Midwest, where he leads the capitalization and execution of the firm’s large-scale luxury multifamily and mixed-use developments.
Since joining the firm in 2019, Allen has led projects including The Row Fulton Market, a 43-story, 300-unit residential tower that was Chicago’s first “80/20” high-rise, with 20% of units designated as affordable housing. His expertise was instrumental in pioneering this innovative model for inclusive urban development, which reflects Related’s longstanding commitment to equitable housing.
Allen has also played a central role in the revitalization of 400 Lake Shore Drive, a multiphase development that will deliver 1,100 housing units, 4.5 acres of open space and a 400-foot extension of the Chicago Riverwalk. He is leading the development of the 72-story, 635-unit North Tower, the first of two that will rise where the Chicago River meets Lake Michigan.
In addition, Allen serves as asset manager for 500 Lake Shore Drive, a 500-unit luxury apartment tower completed in 2013.
Prior to Related Midwest, Allen was a Senior Financial Analyst in the Commercial Finance Group at Draper and Kramer, Incorporated, where he secured more than $1.6 billion in financing across multifamily, office, industrial, hotel, retail and mixed-use properties.
Beyond his development work, Allen is an advocate for Related’s affordable housing initiatives and remains actively involved with the Georgetown University Real Estate Alliance, Urban Land Institute, Honor Flight Network and St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
Allen holds a Bachelor of Science in business management from Georgetown University, with minors in sociology and women’s and gender studies. At Georgetown, he was an NCAA Division I pitcher on the baseball team and received both Big East All-Academic Team and Iron Hoya honors.
