Mark Goeden joined Related Midwest in 2004 and serves as Vice President, Construction, currently overseeing all contracting and renovations for the firm's affordable housing portfolio. During his tenure with the company, he has worked on more than 60 projects including award-winning developments like 340 on the Park, Roosevelt Square and the South Loop Luxury by Related portfolio. Goeden also oversees the day-to-day operations of LR Contracting Company, the general contracting division of Related Midwest.
Reflecting Related’s commitment to support the communities it serves, Goeden has helped the firm become an industry leader in local hiring and workforce development. More than 80% of his projects have incorporated community business participation entirely on a voluntary basis, with no regulatory requirements to do so. In addition, Goeden has been instrumental in Related Midwest’s small business mentoring program, providing weekly support to 35 companies, 16 of which received their first-ever contracts to perform work as subcontractors.
Goeden has been instrumental in the creation, development and planning of HIRE360, a cross-industry partnership through which Chicago's largest developers, general contractors and local labor unions create sustainable employment opportunities for underrepresented individuals. Goeden continuously advocates for employment opportunities on his project sites and has helped connect over 350 individuals with careers in the construction industry.
Additionally, Goeden has played a key role in Related Midwest’s Workforce Wellness Program, which addresses harassment, racism and bias to enhance jobsite safety. With the mission of cultivating a safe, welcoming workplace where tradespeople of all backgrounds can thrive and excel, the program includes project foreman implementation training, safety orientation, wellness-focused toolbox talks and bimonthly wellness stand-down meetings.
Goeden was recognized as one of Crain’s Chicago Business’ 2024 Notable Leaders in Commercial Real Estate and received the Innovative Urban Development Award from the Rainbow PUSH Coalition. He has also been actively involved with the PUSH Excel Scholarship program and industry organizations such as the Council on Construction Operations. He holds a Bachelor of Science in industrial technologies-plant engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
