Last week’s The 78 Connects: Contractors Forum brought together more than 150 local contractors, community partners and development leaders for a dynamic day of collaboration and opportunity. Hosted in partnership with Chicago Fire FC, the event celebrated progress at The 78 Chicago and outlined new pathways for businesses to participate in the Chicago Fire’s stadium project, The 78’s site infrastructure and other Related Midwest developments.

The day opened with representatives from Related Midwest and Chicago Fire FC sharing updates on the stadium planning process and broader site efforts, emphasizing open communication, mentorship and transparency. They were joined by project partners LR Contracting, CAA ICON, Pepper Construction Group, GMA Construction Group and ALL Construction Group, who outlined efforts to ensure all businesses, especially small and emerging firms, have the information, resources and support needed to compete for upcoming opportunities across Chicago’s growing development landscape.

Throughout the day, the energy in the room reflected a shared commitment to expanding access and opportunity. Nearly 70 businesses and trade organizations took the stage during a series of Contractor Spotlights to share their experience and expertise with project partners. The presentations highlighted the depth of talent within Chicago’s construction community and the power of collaboration in shaping The 78 as the city’s next great neighborhood.

Attendees also participated in working sessions with experts across safety, insurance, finance, HR, marketing and public relations, gaining practical tools to strengthen their operations and prepare for future projects.

Our 78 Connects program aimed to go beyond networking by fostering lasting partnerships that help local contractors and community businesses stay informed, build relationships and play an active role in shaping Chicago’s future.

As The 78 grows, events like this forum reaffirm the importance of collaboration and community-driven development. We’re proud to help build not just a neighborhood, but a lasting legacy — and we’re grateful to everyone who joined us to shape what comes next.
