Meaningful progress often begins with the purposeful exchanges of ideas. Related Midwest recently welcomed members of the architecture and design community for an evening of thoughtful dialogue and networking at the latest Curating Connections event.

More than 60 industry professionals attended the panel discussion, which explored how architects and designers can leverage civic commitment to meaningfully influence the direction of our urban landscape. The group also examined how these relationships can inform the evolution of the design profession.

Moderated by Ann Thompson, FAIA, executive vice president of architecture and design at Related Midwest, the panel included Heather Morrison, founder and CEO of MAP Strategies and MAP Studio; Patricia Saldaña Natke, FAIA, ALA, NCARB, founding partner at UrbanWorks; Danielle Tillman, AIA, NOMA, managing principal at bKL Architects; and Ernest Wong, fASLA, founding principal and president of Site Design Group.

Food was provided by Meze Table, a local, women-owned catering business cofounded by two lifelong friends that specializes in artfully crafted tasting boards and Mediterranean specialties.

Now in its second year, Curating Connections is a series of panel events that brings together professionals in development, architecture and construction to foster positive change in their communities.
