Related Midwest Opens Apartment Residences at One Bennett Park in Chicago’s Streeterville Neighborhood

Related Midwest today announced it has opened the doors of One Bennett Park in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood, welcoming the first apartment residents to the new 70-story high-rise that is the city’s first residential tower by Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA). The developer has also unveiled two levels of completed indoor amenity space, as well as two apartment model units by Chicago-based luxury interior design firm Soucie Horner, Ltd., and a lobby art installation by Chicago-based mixed-media artist Nick Cave.

“One Bennett Park offers the city’s premier rental residences by any measure, and with the completion of the building’s first phase we are reinterpreting apartment living in downtown Chicago,” said Curt Bailey, president of Related Midwest. “From the noted partners we’ve collaborated with to bring about the building’s Art Deco-inspired style, to the caliber of finishes in every residence, to the amenities and services we’ve programmed to ensure an unparalleled rental lifestyle for residents, the meticulous planning that has gone into every detail of One Bennett Park is unmatched. The result is a building that will resonate with the most discerning renters seeking luxury living downtown.”

One Bennett Park is anchored by the adjacent Bennett Park – a 1.7-acre green space by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, the firm behind Maggie Daley Park and The 606. The tower includes 279 apartment residences, located on floors 4 through 39, which are now open and available for move-in. These residences include a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, as well as four-bedroom rental penthouses on the 37th through 39th floors, and range in size from 905 to 3,323 square feet. Pricing currently starts at $3,705 per month for one-bedrooms, $4,795 per month for two-bedrooms, $7,995 per month for three-bedrooms, and $18,500 per month for four-bedroom penthouses.

All apartments at One Bennett Park feature 9-foot-6-inch ceilings, oversized windows, plank flooring, solid-core wood interior doors, spacious closets, full-size in-home washers and dryers, and resident-controlled Nest thermostats. In addition, the apartments showcase high-end kitchens with RAMSA-designed custom cabinetry manufactured by Snaidero; dark quartz countertops with waterfall-edge islands; glass tile backsplashes; built-in, custom-paneled SubZero refrigerators; high-performance Bosch Benchmark stainless steel appliances, including custom-paneled dishwashers; pantry storage; and built-in SubZero wine storage in select units. Baths will feature RAMSA-designed custom cabinetry, Carrara marble countertops, herringbone-patterned tile floors, tiled showers with terrazzo bases and freestanding soaking tubs in select units.

“These apartments are expansive, elegantly appointed residences with the latest in-home amenities and upscale finishes,’ said Bailey. “For those who are renters by choice, they offer sophisticated city living in a sought-after location, complemented by the highest level of white glove service and amenities.”

One Bennett Park also includes 69 condominiums, located on floors 41 through 66, that are priced from $2 million and are expected to be completed in spring 2019.

Prospective renters can now experience the gracious layouts, finish level and craftsmanship of the apartment residences at One Bennett Park by visiting two model apartments decorated by Soucie Horner. The furniture, textiles, color palette and accessories selected by the firm for each model reflect the building’s sophisticated and refined aesthetic. The model units also highlight the appeal of various floor plan elements, such as a flexible guest suite/den and an open living/dining room/kitchen area that is as equally suited to everyday family life as it is to more formal entertaining.

“These models demonstrate our belief that good design can actually define lifestyle,” says Shea Soucie, principal and co-founder of Soucie Horner. “Our goal was to blend the notion of urbane and cultured living with the idea of family-friendly comfort, just as the building itself does. That’s why you see an emphasis on artwork - which ties into the role art plays throughout the more public spaces of the building -as well as thoughtfully placed custom furnishings that make the most of open floor plans.”

While Chicagoans watched One Bennett Park rise in Streeterville over the past two years, the opening of the limestone-clad tower marks the first look inside at interiors, amenities and common areas that were also designed by RAMSA, whose founder and Senior Partner, Robert A.M. Stern, was recently honored with an Award for Architectural Excellence from the Society of Architectural Historians. Echoing the Art Deco influences of the building’s exterior, the interiors feature custom-designed metalwork and light fixtures, detailed ceilings and millwork, and materials including limestone, marble and oak.

One Bennett Park’s interiors also showcase museum-quality art, such as the recently installed mixed-media piece by artist Nick Cave, entitled “Tondo,” which is the centerpiece of One Bennett Park’s apartment lobby. The vibrant work, six feet in diameter, was revealed in September at EXPO CHICAGO, the city’s largest exposition of globally-sourced art.

“Related is committed to curating and commissioning world-class art for our properties, as illustrated by the caliber of the artwork residents will enjoy every day at One Bennett Park,” said Ann Thompson, senior vice president of architecture and design at Related Midwest. “These pieces not only contribute to the overall design of the building and complement the true craftsmanship displayed throughout, but also heighten the luxury residential experience.”

Further adding to the residential experience at One Bennett Park are the building’s full suite of indoor amenities on the third and fourth floors that are now complete. These include 7,000 square feet of fitness and wellness facilities with functional performance and training studios as well as a club-level gym featuring top-of-the-line cardiovascular and strength equipment such as the Assault AirBike Elite, Freemotion Dual Cable Cross and the Woodway Curve Trainer – all hand-selected by renowned fitness expert Jay Wright of New York-based The Wright Fit. A 60-foot indoor pool on the third floor will facilitate year-round aquatic exercises and provide access to a 10,000-square-foot outdoor recreational deck overlooking Bennett Park that will feature a landscaped sun deck with pool, private pergolas with limestone detailing, fire pit lounges and outdoor grilling kitchens.

Other indoor amenities on the third and fourth floors include a children’s play suite with prep kitchen for playdates and birthday parties; a tween room with a pool table, gaming, televisions and modular lounge seating; a lounge area with fireplace; and an entertainment suite with catering kitchen, which will have direct access to the recreational deck when it opens. A private motor court accessible from Peshtigo Court provides a dedicated, off-street area for drop-offs and pick-ups directly in front of the apartment grand lobby. Additional storage, a bike room, private garage parking and public parking are also now available.

Additionally, residents will have 24-hour access and a private entry to Bennett Park. Currently under construction, the park is expected to open in summer 2019 and will include an inspired children’s playground, two dog runs, a lawn bowl for gathering, a shade grove, and meandering pathways. The park will be closed on specific days each year for One Bennett Park residents to hold private events.
